Two new businesses have agreed to support this year’s Truro & Penwith College Fal River Festival, both on and off of the water.

HSBC in Falmouth and the Carbis Bay Hotel near St Ives have joined the 10-day festival as Day Sponsors, donating vital funds while bringing interesting new opportunities to the event.

HSBC, one of the largest financial organisations in the world, will be sponsoring Wednesday, June 6 while the Carbis Bay Hotel, situated in one of the most beautiful bays in the world, is to sponsor Thursday, June 7.

Both of these days of the festival feature the award winning ‘Film on the Fal’ when the King Harry Ferry is transformed into a floating cinema on the Fal river.

Film on the Fal has become a highlight of this festival since Event Cornwall and Skylight Cinema’s first screening in 2009. Screening classic, water-themed films, Film on the Fal has won national event industry awards and provides great opportunities for the Day Sponsors.

Supporting the area

With a branch in Falmouth and staff living around the Fal, HSBC’s staff have been invited to a range of events throughout the week, as well as being given the opportunity to host guests at Film on the Fal.

A bank with a strong reputation for supporting the local community, HSBC are delighted to be involved in an event which is enjoyed by so many local residents, as well as visitors.

The Carbis Bay Hotel, near St Ives, will provide luxurious accommodation for guests during the festival, and is well-equipped to get involved with the festival’s events, thanks to their beautiful motor yacht - a Sunseeker Manhattan 50, which is moored in Falmouth Marina and is available for hire.

Sunseeker plans

During the festival, the hotel will be opening up a competition to win a two-night stay with them, inviting people to guess the weight of their Sunseeker to be in with a chance of winning.

Stephen Baker, owner of the Carbis Bay Hotel said: ‘Plans are already underway to include our Sunseeker yacht in the beer fleet launch, as well as part of the closing event at the end of the festival – providing an exciting hospitality opportunity for VIPs of the festival.

The Truro and Penwith College Fal River Festival, which will take place from June 1st – June 10th 2012, attracts more than 100,000 people each year to over 150 events making it one of the largest festivals of its type in Cornwall.
