About the Challenge

Glenn & Guy will be paddling from Sennen to Scilly to try and break the record for a paddle powered crossing, they are hoping to complete the 26 mile crossing in under 3 hours.  Unlike a kayak, the paddler sits on top of a molded ski rather than inside the boat making it extremely safe in open water (because the ski is an enclosed craft when you fall off simply climb back in again). Although these craft excel in open water with large waves and swell, they also work superbly on inland lakes and rivers.

These craft are long, lean, light and fast - they will literally open up a new world of ocean paddling to you.

Handstand

Glenn & Guy are paddling to raise money for Handstand, the appeal for Marshall Janson.  Marshall celebrated his first birthday on 22 December. On Boxing Day, Marshall was rushed into hospital following an attack of Meningococcal Meningitis. Meningitis is a brutal and unforgiving disease. While Marshall has escaped brain damage he has had to have both his hands and both his legs amputated.

Scilly Paddle Record :: BLOG

10:02

Tied up in St Marys, they broke the record, time to be confirmed but looks about three hours thirty nine mins to paddle from Lands End to Scilly landing at Porth Cressa.

08:42

We are now 11 miles from Eastern Rocks, averaging 8.5kts. They guys are doing really well, great conditions across from Sennen. We left Longships at about 6:45 this morning. Islands clearly visibly. Should be there in about 90 minutes!

05:00

I am emailing you this morning from 'Seaquest of Falmouth' as we round the Lizard at 30 knots en-route to Sennen cove on Lands End.

When we arrive at Sennen we will be meeting up with Glenn Eldridge and Guy Blackford who will be attempting to break the record for paddling between Scilly & the mainland.

They are doing this to raise money for the Handstand, the appeal for Marshall Jason.
