WELCOME TO KING HARRY'S CORNWALL /ferries

The King Harry Ferry

Truro & Falmouth - Roseland :: All year round

The King Harry Ferry is an iconic part of Cornwall's history. Established in 1888, it connects St Mawes and the Roseland Peninsula with Feock, Truro and Falmouth by avoiding the alternative 27 mile route through Truro & Tresillian.

One of only five floating bridges operated by chains in England, it departs every 20 minutes from each side, 7 days a week and the ferry is a key transport link for visitors and locals alike.

The King Harry Ferry offers its passengers the chance to avoid miles of congested roads and once aboard you can get out and enjoy the slow river crossing which takes in one of Cornwall's deepest and most beautiful rivers - The River Fal.

The new ferry with its glass side, chain viewing windows and touch screen information display is combining state of the art technology with a traditional friendly service.

Ponshardon - Falmouth Park and Float

Ponshardon - Falmouth :: 23rd May - 30th Sept

What better way to arrive in Falmouth than aboard a classic wooden ferry? After parking at Ponsharden take a leisurely trip down the Penryn River to Falmouth's Custom House Quay. Ferries depart from the car park every 20 minutes. We love our ferries and we hope you do too!

With over 500 spaces, toilets, refreshments and regular boat & bus services into Falmouth, Ponsharden is the ideal place to leave your car before heading into Falmouth or further afield for the day.

Falmouth has very little (and expensive) long stay, town centre parking and for this reason the Park & Float / Ride was established in 2003. Visitors to the town can now help reduce congestion and pollution by using the 500 space car park on the outskirts of town. So wash away the stress of parking by using Ponsharden. Once parked take our relaxing and quirky way to the shops, museum, cafes and attractions by jumping aboard one of our classic ferries and enjoy an informative commentary.

Park at Ponsharden and upgrade to the Park & Float & St Mawes Cruise which includes both the Park & Float ferry to Falmouth as well as the St Mawes ferry onwards to the old world fishing harbour of St Mawes.

Discounted entry to the Maritime Museum by using one of our Park & Float boats you get the added benefit of discounted entry to the Maritime Museum. The ferry lands at Custom House Quay and from there it's only a short three minute walk to the Museum. Upon your arrival just show your ferry sticker for Discounted Entry.

The St Mawes Ferry

Falmouth - St Mawes :: All year round - Be careful if you take the ferry from Customs House Quay in Falmouth to use the original St Mawes Ferry Company - our boats are blue and skippered by Maritime and Coast Guard licensed skippers and crew.

The St Mawes Ferry connects the old world fishing harbour of St Mawes with the bustling port of Falmouth. The ferry provides an all year round service to over 100,000 visitors a year and is an absolute must for anyone visiting Cornwall.

Passing the impressive castles of St Mawes & Pendennis, the ferry route takes you on a magical journey across the Carrick Roads. As well as the castles you will see many large ships, the working docks of Falmouth, Black Rock (a local isolated shipping hazard) and if you’re lucky some of the dolphins and basking sharks that regularly visit the harbour.

The classic wooden ferries depart every hour during the winter and three times an hour during the summer. Capacity is never a problem as each ferry can carry up to 100 passengers and covered seating is provided in case we get some of that ‘Cornish Liquid Sunshine’.

Orca Sea Safaries

A variety of Cornish Coastline to be explored :: All year round

Orca Sea Safaris runs a wide range of wildlife watching cruises from Falmouth aboard its fast, purpose built Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).

The Orca team aims to introduce you to the outstanding beauty of the Cornish Coastline, while looking for a selection of the marine wildlife that inhabits the area. Our experienced skipper is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and local area and will provide a cheery face and informative commentary, describing fascinating facts about the wildlife, shipwrecks, smugglers tales, local history and marine environment.

Orca Sea Safaris has a strong conservation ethos and we are WiSe accredited as a safe wildlife friendly operator. To help us record sightings of wildlife we encourage our guests to note and photograph everything they see; we then pass this data onto Cornwall Wildlife Trust as well as logging it on our website.

Seaquest, our boat, is fully licensed, insured and coded by the Maritime and Coastguard agency to carry 12 passengers. This winter she underwent a major refit including a pair of new efficient ‘low emission' engines. Forward facing seats provide inrestricted views of wildlife and the coastline.
